As of February of 2014 there are 23 FM radio stations, and six AM stations in Calgary. The AM stations cater to talk radio and news and broadcast to a much larger part of the province because AM signals can travel much farther than FM signals. In fact the AM signals can bounce off the ionosphere and reflect back to earth thousands of miles away. That is why you can sometimes pick up an AM station from places like LA while you are in Calgary.
The FM stations offer a variety that covers the whole spectrum of musical tastes. Here is a list of all the stations and their frequencies.
